Tiger Shroff made his debut in 2014 with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti, and his “Sabko aati nahin, meri jaati nahin” is still resonating with the audience as he went on to establish himself as an action hero. Six years later, the duo is set to take the franchise forward with Ahmed Khan as director of the sequel and Tara Sutaria as Tiger’s ladylove. Mirror has learnt that the action thriller rolls in December and will be shot across the globe in over 10 countries.
“While Heropanti was set in India, the idea now is to up the scale and the locations are a part of Rajat Arora’s script. Over the last few months, the makers have zeroed in on London, New York, Moscow, Tokyo, and Manila to shoot the initial leg, and will add more cities as they go along,” revealed a source close to the development.
The 2014 original takes off with a girl, Renu, eloping with her lover, Rakesh, on the day of her wedding and the enraged father holding the boyfriend’s pals captive, one of whom is Bablu, played by Tiger. He’s in love with a girl from the town whose name or whereabouts he doesn’t know, and only has her misplaced earrings to trace her by. Turns out she’s none other than Renu’s younger sister, Dimpy, played by another debutante, Kriti Sanon. As the father and the friends chase after the runaway couple, Bablu and Dimpy end up struck by Cupid’s arrow. But since the path of true love never did run smooth, the autocratic patriarch arranges Dimpy’s match with another before realisation strikes and after two hours of drama and melodrama, fights and tears, finally gives his nod to an inter-caste love marriage for his younger daughter.
Part 2 will have a lot of chases too, but this time Tiger is eluding not an irate Jatt father but agencies from across the world, who want him dead. “His character traits are an extension of Heropanti,” informs the source.
Tara reunites with her Student Of The Year 2 co-star and according to the source, Sajid, who is working with the actress in Ahan Shetty’s debut film, the RX 100 remake, was impressed after seeing the rushes of the romantic action thriller and thought she was a perfect fit for Heropanti 2 too. While filming begins in December, Tiger and Tara will have joint script reading sessions from November-end.
Considering that the trio of Tiger, Ahmed and Sajid have worked together in Baaghi 2 and 3, a conscious effort has gone into designing the world and action of Heropanti 2 to make it diametrically different from Baaghi. “Baaghi 4 is currently being scripted; the idea is to take it on floors in the second half of 2021. It will also be shot at multiple locations, globally,” shared the source.
