In a recent interaction with Mirror (September 24), Gurmeet Choudhary had revealed that he had returned to the city on September 17, after completing a one-month schedule of his upcoming film, The Wife, in Jaipur. He had confirmed that both he and his wife Debina Bonnerjee, who had also started shooting for her TV show, were doing fine. The couple was planning a road trip to Goa, but before that they decided to hop across to Lonavala, leaving on September 21 and returning two days later.

On Wednesday, the actor shared that both he and his wife have tested positive for Coronavirus and isolated themselves at home. A source close to the actor reveals that Gurmeet’s body temperature had risen since his return. “They took all the precautions while travelling and were conscious not to risk themselves in any way. He initially thought the fever was viral and despite a definite improvement in his condition, decided to take the test on Tuesday as a precautionary measure. However, both he and Debina are doing fine,” added the source.

Actor-couple Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee were diagnosed Covid-19 positive on Wednesday and have been home quarantining for the past six days.

Talking to us, Bonnerjee says that they started feeling feverish around September 25. “We got a little fever, and immediately thought we’ll get a test done. It’s now pretty common, everybody everywhere is having it, it’s difficult to escape. On Monday, we got tested, and on Wednesday we were diagnosed Covid positive,” she shares.

With much stigma around the virus, what was her first thought? She says, “Hopefully with precautions and care, you can get away with it. We got detected yesterday, so it’s a revelation...not the happiest one.”

Choudhary had been shooting for a film in Jaipur, and came back around 15 days ago. “I was home, not stepping out. Gurmeet came back, but that too long back,” says Bonnerjee, 37, adding that their housing society has been kind in helping them. “They’ve laid down a table in front of our house. Whatever we order from outside, they place it there. That’s the best thing that can happen,” she shares.
