Father-daughter duo Shatrughan and Sonakshi Sinha, who are yet to work together on the big screen, have come together for a cause. The two will feature in the song Zaroorat, which speaks of hope even during the challenging pandemic times. Both of them will be seen narrating some lines from the song. Shatrughan Sinha says, “The song reflects the current state and the conditions that we’re living in. It gives expression to the pain of the people and how it can be eased. I am positive that we will tide through these difficult times, and I am happy to have offered my voice to such a creative initiative.”

Talking about the song, which drops on September 30, Sonakshi adds, “Kudos to all the artistes for inspiring people to be resourceful and kind to each other. We are tackling big problems right now — economic slowdown, internal conflicts and tension at our borders. Now, more than ever before, it has become pertinent to lend a helping hand, say a kind word or even smile.”

The music video will also feature personalities from diverse fields including, acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, retired IPS officer, social activist and politician Kiran Bedi, renowned classical dancer and MP Sonal Mansingh, transgender rights activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi and musician Ani Choying Drolma from Nepal.

The song, curated and directed by Varun Prabhudayal Gupta, has been penned by Shravan Pundirr and rendered by Simran Choudhary, Ajay Keswani, Shruti Unwind and rappers Muhfaad and Violina. Varun says, “The message of Zaroorat is to help cope with the suffering around us. The only way out is to anticipate the needs of others and have each others’ backs.”
