A few days ago, the internet was abuzz with pictures of Deepika Padukone heading to Goa to shoot for the yet-untitled Shakun Batra-directorial. The lockdown had delayed the shoot of the film, which also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. However, it has finally commenced now, and the actors will reportedly be in the land of sunny beaches for a couple of months.

While the story of the much anticipated movie has been kept under wraps, a source revealed that it is apparently inspired by Woody Allen’s 2005 film, Match Point. “While the plot has been given an Indian flavour, Shakun’s love story is influenced by the Hollywood psychological thriller starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in pivotal roles,” said the source.

Earlier, talking about the film to BT, Siddhant had said, “It is a very different story and genre; Shakun calls it domestic noir. At first, when I read it, I didn’t know what it meant, but when Shakun shared his vision with me, I figured out that it was a new-age and contemporary story. It will be an experience for me to play a character with such layers. I am waiting to start shooting for it.”

We hear the cast has undergone several readings and look tests for the film. It will be interesting to see how this movie shapes up, given the fresh casting and interesting premise. We reached out to Shakun to confirm the news, but there wasn’t any response till the time of going to press.
