Over the past few months, many Bollywood actors have come out to support the industry’s daily wagers, who were rendered jobless by the Coronavirus lockdown. Though the entertainment industry is limping back to normalcy and shoots are resuming slowly, the crisis is far from over. Moved by the plight of the industry workers, who might take a long while to get back on the sets, Katrina Kaif has offered monetary help to 100 background dancers to enable them to tide over these tough times.
Some of the dancers have used the money to start small businesses, like selling things of daily use or setting up tiffin services. One such senior dancer, Hetal, has used the money to fund her business of selling vegetable to societies. She says, “I go to the APMC Market in Vashi every morning to buy vegetable and sell those to local societies.”
