Sonu Sood believes that everyone should come together and help the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, who’re working tirelessly in the face of Coronavirus. And so, he has decided to host them at his hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. “Healthcare workers are staying away from their families, and are risking their lives. They’re the real healers. But they don’t have any place to rest in the hospitals,” he says.
“I offered my hotel rooms to them, so that they could rest, save their travel time and spend more time serving the society. Breakfast and dinner will also be provided to them. The idea is to make them feel comfortable,” he adds.
On how doctors and nurses are being ill-treated by the society, that fears contracting the virus from them, the 46-year-old elaborates, “It’s unfortunate that people don’t respect the sacrifice that healthcare professionals make. They, along with their families, should be provided with the best of facilities. They are the only wall that exists between us and the virus. The only way to help them is by being kind.”
Sood also feels the pandemic calls for a better healthcare infrastructure in the country. “It’s time to build more hospitals than temples. We need to get a good healthcare system in place, and I hope that our efforts towards it will continue even after the Covid-19 situation is over,” he signs off.
