While most of us are on Day 16 of the lockdown, Kriti Kharbanda has been under quarantine for over a month now. Last month, the actress returned from the engagement party of actor-beau Pulkit Samrat’s brother in Delhi on an international flight and instantly came down with a cough and cold. “I thought it best not to mingle given the symptoms. I was terrified I had contracted the Coronavirus but since test kits were available in limited numbers back then and I did not have a fever, the doctors advised me to distance myself and monitor my symptoms. I was paranoid for the first three days, then, I started to feel better,” Kriti recounts, adding that meditation helps her deal with the anxiety.

Since they live in the same building, Kriti has Pulkit to help her through the difficult times. “We had decided to stay in the same building to dodge traffic, but now, I am grateful to have him with me. I can’t imagine how other couples who don’t stay together are dealing with the lockdown,” she states, saying the duo play board games, Antakshari and dumb charades to kill time and never fight.

Luckily, Kriti had a fully stocked pantry when she arrived home and only has to go downstairs for fresh fruits and veggies.

“As actors, we follow a strict diet, with recommended amount of protein, but now, we are making do with the basics. We are just thankful to have food on our plate,” says the actress, who spends most of her days on the balcony since it now offers a view of the sea. “The other side offers panoramic sights of the lush green Aarey forest and a sparkling clean lake thanks to the now clean air. I hope everyone continues to value the things they have realised are important during this period,” she signs off.
