A day after Shah Rukh Khan joined the fight against Coronavirus with donations to the PM-CARES and Maharashtra CM Relief Fund, Ekta Kapoor has come forward to help those hit by the pandemic. On Friday, the TV czarina and filmmaker announced that she is forgoing a year’s salary of Rs 2.5 crore.

Noting that the “CORONA crisis is huge, unprecedented and multi-pronged” in a statement issued on Instagram, Ekta explained the reason behind the decision. “It is my first and foremost responsibility to take care of the freelancers and daily wage workers who work at Balaji Telefilms and who are going to suffer immense losses due to no shootings in the current scenario and uncertainity in the indefinite period to follow.”

Previously, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan, and Priyanka Chopra, among others, have pledged support to various relief funds.
