THAPPAD collected a poor 21 crore nett apprx in its first week. The collections are low but that is not really the problem as its expected but the issue is that the film has not really held up well enough on the weekdays. These films depend on the weekday business and must hold steady and go forward in week two but it has not happened here.

CHHAPAAK had collected 26.23 crore while PANGA was 15.25 crore and another family member SAAND KI AANKH was 11.58 crore. The difference between these films and THAPPAD is that THAPPAD was a solo release while the others had competition from a bigger film. The film needs to do a double digit second week or near for a decent final result.
