Upscale Bandra gym defy ban for the actor and his wife; owner insists gym was shut and that he was just ‘chilling with friend Shahid’

While the fitness-conscious in Mumbai who spend hours every day building those biceps in the neighbourhood gymnasium are reduced to running on the treadmill at home following the state government notification on Friday shutting all gyms, swimming pools and cinema halls, Shahid Kapoor has no such worries. The actor and his wife Mira Rajput were spotted at an upmarket Bandra gym, AntiGravity Club, on Sunday evening undergoing an intense workout that lasted nearly two hours.

The gym, which was shut the entire day, opened exclusively for the couple around 5.30 pm yesterday. Shahid who had gloves wrapped around his hands, trained in the VIP section while his wife remained in the general workout area. Every now and then, she would go across the room to speak to him. After the couple noticed the Mirror, they chose to leave the gym from a different exit.

AntiGravity Club owner Yudhishthir Jaising told that Shahid was a “close friend” and he wasn’t at the gym for a workout session. “He has been shooting in Chandigarh and had asked me to get some equipment after he sustained an injury (tendonitis). I was showing him the right way to use the equipment. In any case, we work out and train together at each other’s houses,” Jaising said.

He insisted that his firm hadn’t flouted any rule, that the gym has been “completely unoperational since Friday”, and no patrons had visited the gym after they notified the members that it would remain closed until further notice. “It was only Shahid, Mira and me… just friends chilling on a Sunday evening,” Jaising stated.

Shahid and his PR team did not respond to calls and messages at the time of going to press.
