On Saturday, Shahid Kapoor tweeted that the on-going schedule of his upcoming sports-drama, Jersey, has been called off due to the Coronavirus scare. The announcement came before the decision of the film bodies on Sunday to halt all shooting for 12 days, starting March 19. “At a time like this it is our social responsibility to do everything in our capacity to curb the spread of this virus… Be responsible. Stay safe,” the actor asserted.

After completing 70 per cent of the film, the team was in Chandigarh to shoot portions featuring the actor in his older avatar. “We were looking to wrap up by April-end but in the wake of the unfolding crisis across the globe, we have decided to suspend the shoot for a few weeks,” informs Aman Gill, who is producing the film with Dil Raju, S Naga Vamsi and Allu Aravind. “If the situation normalises soon, we will resume work by early next month.”

The film is scheduled to open on August 28 and Aman insists that the delay will not affect their release plans. “We’d still have three-four months for post-production after we finish filming by mid-May,” he concludes.
