CHHAPAAK collected a poor 5 crore nett in its second week which took its two week total to 31.75 crore nett. The film dropped over 80% in its second week and although the blame of its failure is being put on a controversy surrounding the film, its the content that has failed badly.

CHHAPAAK is that rare loser for the industry which will lose money. The flop count is huge for the industry but most films with good set ups recover or make profits due to satellite and digital despite being flops. Like last year only PAGALPANTI and PANIPAT come to mind out of the major releases which lost money though theatrically there were many flop films.

CHHAPAAK will put its investors in the red with even with satellite and digital and it needed to do 10-15 crore nett more at the box office which actually should not have been too hard even with below average content. But the the content was bad and not engaging and on top you clash with a big film like TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR. A solo date could have meant the film doing 30-35% more.
