Shilpa Shetty Kundra on completing 26 years in the Indian film industry
Kavita Awaasthi (HINDUSTAN TIMES; November 13, 2019)
Shilpa Shetty Kundra arrived in Bollywood with Abbas-Mustan’s thriller — Baazigar (1993), which got her critical acclaim as well as numerous accolades. There has been no looking back for her ever since. Shilpa admits that her entry into showbiz happened “purely due to luck”. When she was 15, she was spotted at an event by a photographer, who distributed her photos on the set of a show and that led to the start of her film career.
With Baazigar, Shilpa completes 26 years in Hindi cinema. The actor went on to headline many successful films such as Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Dhadkan (2000), Rishtey (2002), Phir Milenge (2004), Life In A... Metro (2007) among others. On her stint in Bollywood, Shilpa says, “It has been a wonderful journey. I am grateful for all the love that has come from the viewers. They have been kind and I have been fortunate. I was an outsider with no plan to be in films. A big thanks to the people of the industry who made me feel at home.”
After a brief hiatus, she will now be seen in Sabbir Khan’s next, Nikamma. Talking about the film, she says, “It is so exciting to be on a film set and to witness everyone work single-mindedly towards a project. I have missed the filmmaking process and being in front of the camera for a movie. I am buzzing with the energy of a newcomer!”
