Sajid Nadiadwala on his long-time actor-friends who have shared screen space in two films, and an upcoming reunion of sorts

Mirror was the first to report (July 25) that after Jeet, Judwaa, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jaan-E-Mann and Kick, Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala are teaming up for the seventh time for the Kick sequel. The filmmaker, who made his directorial debut with the 2014 action thriller, has confirmed that Part 2 is being scripted with Rajat Arora joining in as co-writer and that it goes on floors next year.
Now, Mirror has learnt that before that, the duo is reuniting this Diwali with the release of Nadiadwala’s reincarnation comedy, the Farhad Samji directed Housefull 4. The trailer of Salman’s Christmas release Dabangg 3 will be attached with the Akshay Kumarfronted multi-starrer, which opens in theatres this week.
Nadiadwala and Salman met recently to discuss Kick 2 and other projects. According to the filmmaker, it was an impromptu decision. “We realised that the Dabangg 3 trailer would be ready by the time we release Housefull 4. The idea appealed to us as nothing can be bigger than Salman and Akshay coming together for Diwali,” Sajid smiles.
His friendship with both actors goes way back. While he went to the same school as Akshay, which included travelling by the same bus, it so happened in the 1990s that he and Salman were to get married on the same day. However, the actor eventually backed out at the last minute, and attended Sajid’s wedding with Warda (Nadiadwala).
The two films in which Salman and Akshay worked together—Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Jaan-E-Mann—were produced by Nadiadwala. Does he plan to cast them in another project? “I’d be more than happy to get them together on screen, however, all of us are busy with other commitments. Once we’re free and ready, we’d definitely want to create something big and magical,” he asserts, adding, “If we come together again, it is going to be one big party on the sets.”
