Priyanka Chopra says the intensity of the final scene of her upcoming Hindi film, The Sky Is Pink, made singer-husband Nick Jonas cry. “It’s funny because I was filming this until at least four days before my wedding,” informs the actress whose film will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13. Fortunately for her, the team, including director Shonali Bose was very accommodating and even created a ‘wedding approvals room’ for the couple while on location in Delhi.

On the last day of shoot, the groom-to-be was invited on the set for a wrap-up celebration. Nick came a little early and since they were out in the dark, no one spotted him. “Priyanka was doing a very, very intense scene and I heard a sniff, I turned and there was Nick standing next to me and he was crying. It was just the sweetest thing,” says Shonali, with Priyanka adding, “She goes, you made your husband cry, this is a great scene. It was really cute.”

The film is the love story of a couple—Aditi and Niren Chaudhary—who lose their daughter to pulmonary fibrosis. It features Farhan Akhtar as her husband and Zaira Wasim as their daughter, a spunky teenager Aisha. Spanning over three decades, the family moves countries, challenges science, change faith and are constantly tested in their love and relationships.

The actress, who lost her father to cancer, says the film looks at how people can choose to celebrate their lives instead of mourning their deaths. “I didn’t accept my father’s death. I went to work four days later, I didn’t think about it or talk about it,” Priyanka admitted, saying when Shonali came to her with this film, as an actress it was very personal. “I just knew what Aditi would feel. Even though I’m not a mother and haven’t had a child, I just sort of knew.”

The film is slated to release worldwide on October 11.
