MUMBAI MIRROR (September 14, 2019)
During a recent turn on Kapil Sharma’s chat show, The Kapil Sharma Show, Chunky Panday revealed what made him take up villainous roles on screen. According to the actor, who was accompanied by the Prassthanam team—Sanjay Dutt, his producer-wife Maanayata Dutt, Satyajeet Dubey and Amyra Dastur—it was his wife, Bhavna, who persuaded him. “Whenever my wife and I fought, she would say, ‘Chunky you are a real villain, bade neech insaan ho,’” the actor revealed, noting that his gundagardi has earned him more respect in the Panday household. “Now, my family addresses me as ‘Pandey ji’. Earlier, I was called Pandu,” Chunky chuckled.
While Maanayata revealed that her actor-husband once tried to prank her by refusing to wear a dhoti for a scene, Kapil too got into the spirit of spilling secrets, sharing that he was in Amsterdam when Dutt’s biopic Sanju released and he was denied entry into a show after arriving late. To get in, he showed a picture of himself with Ranbir Kapoor (the film’s lead) to convince security that he was the film’s producer.
