MUMBAI MIRROR (August 13, 2019)

From playing an entitled business scion in the 2006 comedy-thriller Taxi No 9211, to playing a cop based on real events, John Abraham sure has come a long way. The actor, who plays DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav in his Independence Day release, Batla House, recently turned up on The Kapil Sharma Show and, might we add, went a bit off-script.

The usually reserved actor took to the stage to share an anecdote from the sets of his 2006 Milan Luthria directorial when, for one of the scenes, he had to lie down on the street and roll his way out with cars zooming past. Incidentally, his mother was driving past and saw her son lying on the road. Assuming the worst, she rushed to the spot, screaming in Gujarati. Only when she saw the cameras pointed in her son’s direction was she assured that everything was fine.

Talking about his cop turn in his upcoming film, John also revealed that he put in extra hours at the gym and asked the director (Nikkhil Advani) to take a full-shot because he wanted to flaunt his body. On the topic of guilty pleasures, the actor confessed that he snacks on his favourite diet food, makhana, to keep hunger pangs at bay.

John also confessed that he was a lazy dresser and preferred slippers over shoes. In fact, he went on to reveal that he owns only two pairs of shoes, one of which he wore for the show.
