Alia Bhatt, who recently returned to Mumbai with co-star and beau Ranbir Kapoor from the Varanasi schedule of Brahmastra after developing a stomach bug, was back at the city airport on Wednesday night. Twinning in white with RK, the actress was on her way to catch a flight to New York. Mirror has learnt that the duo is off to the Big Apple for a mini vacation, during which they will also spend some time with Ranbir’s parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor.

A source close to the development informed, “They were with Rishi and Neetu for New Year celebrations as well. This time, Ranbir’s sister Riddhima is also there so it’s going to be a family reunion. RK and Alia will be returning to Mumbai in a few days to resume work on their film,” the source added. Mirror had recently reported that Rishi is gearing up to return to India by August end, just in time to celebrate his 67th birthday on September 4.

Meanwhile, the vacation has come as a welcome break for Alia, who has her plate full, with back-to-back work commitments through the rest of the year. In July, she resumes shooting for her first film with her father Mahesh Bhatt, followed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah, another first for her as she collaborates with the filmmaker and the leading man, Salman Khan, in August. The modern love story is set in Varanasi and Florida. Towards the year-end, she is to start shooting for SS Rajamouli’s Ram Charan and Jr NTR-starrer RRR, which will take her back to North India.
