Janhvi Kapoor who arrived in Lucknow on Thursday to resume shooting of her next, the Gunjan Saxena biopic which is tentatively titled Kargil Girl, had an eventful day in the city, as the shoot was called off due to warnings of a thunderstorm. The team is to film the climax over the next few days. A source from the team says, “Janhvi and her onscreen brother Anshuman (played by Angad Bedi; pictured below) will be shooting an intense scene at UP Sainik School in Lucknow, besides other locations including one near the air force station. The schedule will go on till May 24. Security has been increased to ensure a smooth shoot for the actors.”
During the break, Janhvi had been prepping for the war sequences at a flying club in Indore. The source adds that while this will be the last shoot in the Uttar Pradesh capital, an international schedule was recently added to the film. “The team is headed to the UK for a month-long schedule in July. Before that, they will go there on a recce to finalise locations,” the source added. Pankaj Tripathi who plays Janhvi and Angad’s father in the biopic, is expected to join the team shortly.
The film marks the directorial debut of Sharan Sharma who has previously assisted Ayan Mukerji on Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and is based on Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, who was the first Indian woman to fly into a combat zone. Gunjan evacuated injured soldiers in the 1999 Kargil war and she was honoured with the Shaurya Chakra.
