KESARI did very well on day one with 21 crore nett apprx on its first day which is the highest first day collection of the year and the second highest opening day for an Akshay Kumar starrer after Gold which opened on a national holiday. The film opened in the afternoon at many places as it was Holi and did huge occupancy as it worked like a national holiday. But then it was the opposite at some places which were affected by Holi especially the mass centres.

The best collections for the film have come in Gujarat/Saurashtra which has recorded the best collections in the last fifteen months after SANJU. The business in this belt is actually better than East Punjab. Both circuits have a similar ratio and East Punjab will collect around 2.75 crore nett while Gujarat/Saurashtra will be over 3 crore nett.

The collections in CP, CI, Rajasthan, UP and Bihar have been affected by Holi as single screens performed very few screenings. A circuit like Bihar has probably lost 50-75 lakhs nett as collections look only 15-20 lakh in this circuit. The business will go up on in some places on Friday while the stronger areas will drop as its a working day. It will be Sunday that the film will settle as Holi factor is totally out of the way and the family audience should be out in a big way. The huge plus for the film is the big numbers in Mumbai circuit on day one as it is a North based film.
-------------------------------
KESARI did well on day two as it grossed 16.75-17 crore nett which is a 20% apprx drop from the first day. The drop was mainly in Mumbai circuit which came down from 7 crore nett to 4 crore nett as the Holi holiday had really bumped up the collections in this circuit.

The ratios are a bit more normal on day two with Delhi/UP doing better than Mumbai which is what happens with most North and sardar based films in recent times. The first day was adversely affected by Holi in Delhi/UP which its second day collections did not fall. The final figures will even be better than day one in Delhi/UP as UP has made huge gains. It could collect 4.50-4.75 crore nett in Delhi/UP. The film also went up in CP Berar, Bihar and Mysore.

The two day figures for the film are 38 crore nett apprx which is good and a jump on Saturday would mean the film will set it set up for Sunday when it will be all normal.

The collections of KESARI till date are as follows
Friday - 21,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 17,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 38,00,00,000 apprx

There was another release this week named MARD KO DARD NAHIN HOTA which is a weird action film named after a famous dialogue from the 1985 Amitabh Bachchan blockbuster MARD but it will not even do the collections of that film released 34 years when the average ticket price was probably around INR 4-5 compared to INR 150 today.

The film collected around 35 lakhs nett on day one and 30 lakhs nett on day two. The film did not release on one of the major chains but that hardly makes a difference.
-------------------------------
KESARI had a good Saturday as collections went up around 12% to 18.75 crore nett. The growth was higher in the bigger cities at around 25-30% but many mass centres which had the Holi benefit on Friday were a little lower or at the same level. The collections in UP, Rajasthan, CP Berar remain strong as Saturday similar to Friday which was helped by Holi.

The Friday to Saturday growth is very similar to TOTAL DHAMAAL which went up 17% but for that film it was the first and second day while here it is second and third day. The total collections of the film are now nearly 57 crore nett. The growth on day two was best in Mumbai which went up around 30-35% after the drop on Friday. Delhi/UP recorded same collections as UP was very high on Friday due to Holi. Mysore also showed strong growth on Saturday. On Sunday the film will be back to normal ratios all over as Holi factor is over.

The film is on course to becoming a hit but it will be Monday that will confirm that.

The collections of KESARI till date are as follows
Thursday - 21,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 18,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 56,75,00,000 apprx

There collections of MARD KO DARD NAHIN HOTA were around 40 lakhs nett on Saturday taking its three day total to 1 crore nett. The film is very poor at the box office
-------------------------------
KESARI had a strong extended weekend of 78.25 crore nett with Sunday growth of around 15% which is limited but all the films screening were pretty flat this Sunday be it BADLA, CAPTAIN MARVEL, LUKA CHUPPI or TOTAL DHAMAAL.

The film has done well in all circuits over the extended weekend but is best in Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan. Mumbai was helped by a big first day but Delhi/UP should score over Mumbai in the weekdays. The growth in places like CP, CI and Bihar could have been more on Sunday as TOTAL DHAMAAL showed huge growth here on Sunday but that was a mass film for these regions compared to KESARI which is more for the Delhi/Punjab belt.

The weekend ensures a successful film though it will be the next 5-6 days that tell will it emerge a HIT.

The extended weekend business is as follows.
Thursday - 21,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 18,75,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 21,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 78,25,00,000 apprx

MARD KO DARD NAHIN HOTA collected around 1.35 crore nett in its extended weekend and was pretty much flat over the weekend which means its going nowhere.
