Kareena Kapoor: My character in Takht socially relevant
MID-DAY (March 27, 2019)

Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to undergo dialect training for her historical period drama, Takht, which is based in the Mughal era and chronicles the story of two warring brothers.

The actor, 38, says her character in the Karan Johar- directed film is “socially relevant.” “It is different [from my previous films] because I’ve not done a period film, like this one. There will be a certain amount of dialect preparation and look test that will take place. I am also working with Karan after a long time, so I’m excited,” Khan said.

Having collaborated with Johar on Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), the actor says the filmmaker has evolved as a director, while she too has “completely changed as an artiste”. “Hopefully, it will be a part which will be remembered because it is relevant. I play a strong character.”

The historical drama also features ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. The film will reportedly go on floors later this year.
