For the last couple of days, rumours have been making rounds that Shahid Kapoor has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Word has been flying thick and fast that the actor has taken a break from the shooting of his film, Kabir Singh (the official remake of the South hit, Arjun Reddy) and has taken off to Delhi to spend some time with his family before zooming off to London later this month.
When Bombay Times reached out to the film’s makers to check if Shahid has taken a break from work due to health reasons, co-producer Ashwin Varde told us, “Last weekend, we were in Lonavala for shooting action scenes for the film. It was a four-five-day stint and we shot for about 12-15 hours every day.”
Ashwin added, “The shooting was intense, physically demanding and it would go on for long hours. Shahid had some difficult action scenes to shoot and he pulled them off very well. After that, he wanted a few days off to spend with his kids and wife Mira. He took off to Delhi and will be back in Mumbai on today. He’s absolutely fine.”
He further added, “Shahid has a look change in the film from this point onwards, and he will have to undergo a lot of look tests before we finalise the get-up. Usually, everyone in the industry slips into holiday-mode post December 20, and that goes on till a few days after the New Year kicks in. So, even our shooting resumes in the first week of January, in Delhi. So, there has been no delay or cancellation from Shahid’s end at all.”
