The moment has arrived for the much-awaited launch of yet another star kid in Bollywood. Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan, is already quite a sensation with the paparazzi. The pretty girl has been splashed all over media over the last year, ever since the news of her launch started trickling in. Yesterday, all eyes were on her, as she made her first official media appearance at an event for her debut film, Kedarnath, directed by Abhishek Kapoor. In spite of it being her first interaction with the press, Sara appeared poised and superbly confident.
She took on every question posed by the media, even when asked about Janhvi Kapoor, who made a debut this year with Dhadak. Responding to a question on how both Janhvi and Sara will be vying for the best debutante award for the year, she said, “I have said this before also that all of us are here to do our job and we are no one to decide. I saw Dhadak and loved her in the film. I hope people like my work, too.”
Talking about her Kedarnath co-star, Sushant Singh Rajput, she said, “He’s been the most helpful. There were days when I would feel lost. He has taught me a lot. Inke saath kaam karte karte thodi Hindi seekh li, aur thodi acting bhi seekh li.”
Telling us about the experience of working on the film, she said that her heart warmed up to the story the minute she heard it, along with her mother.
To that Abhishek added, “The good thing about Sara is that she was not looking at a film for her launch. She just wanted to be a part of a good project.”
Talking about her mother’s response to her work in the film, Sara said, “It’s difficult for mom to be unbiased. I am her daughter and look so much like her. So, that combination makes it even more difficult to be unbiased. She wishes me the best. Honestly, she is going to like whatever I do, as I am her baby. Now it’s for you all to judge and like my work.”
On the topic of the privileges that one has being from a filmi family, along with the pressures that come with it, she was quick to add, “There is obviously pressure. People also feel that it’s easy for me, as I have got two films even before they have seen my work. So, along with the pressures, there are also benefits that come along with my legacy and I can’t run away from it. I feel lucky that I have not one, but two films this year.”
Sara also said that she loves exchanging notes with her father and Kareena. She added, “I love discussing history with my father. Kareena is a thorough professional and the way she works; she is amazing. I would like to imbibe her professionalism.”
