In her 11 year-long-career, this will be the first time that Sonam K Ahuja will share screen space with her father, Anil Kapoor, for Shelly Chopra Dhar’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. She will also play the on-screen daughter of her uncle, Sanjay Kapoor, in Abhishek Sharma’s The Zoya Factor (TZF). She says, “When you watch Ek Ladki Ko Dekha..., you will realise that it was the best film for dad and me to come together for the first time. As for TZF, it’s going to be a fun flick.” Ask her how different Anil and Sanjay are on the sets, and pat comes the response, “When it comes to work, dad is serious whereas chachu is more chilled out.”
We reached out to Sanjay and asked him for a reaction to what Sonam had to say. He reasons, “She feels more comfortable around me. Tomorrow, if my daughter, Shanaya, works with me and Anil, she will invariably have lesser inhibitions around him.”
He adds, “The atmosphere on the sets of TZF is chilled out. So, Sonam feels a lot more relaxed. Plus, the character is similar to her real persona. This is the first time I’m shooting with a family member; I just had a cameo in Mubarakan (2017) where I played Arjun Kapoor’s father. Sonam and I have never had the chance to spend quality time like this. As we are working together, we meet every day, discuss a lot of things and are getting to know each other.”
The actor not only bonded with the Veere Di Wedding heroine, but also with her hubby Anand S Ahuja. He reveals, “A few days ago, Anand dropped by on the sets and I interacted with him. They are a wonderful couple. He complements Sonam perfectly.”
