Singer-composer-actor Bappi Lahiri is now an author. Yes, the ‘Golden Man’ has penned a book titled We Are One World: Peace, Love & Harmony which comprises his poems and songs dedicated to communal amity. It will be released in UK, US and Canada.
“I’ve been working on it for the last five years. I always wanted to
do something for humanity, spread the message of love propagated by my Sharaabi chartbuster 'De De Pyaar De'. I’m really excited,” said the veteran from Los Angeles, where he is working on the score of an international film, Dark Land.
Bappi who has a string of evergreen hits like “I Am A Disco Dancer”, “Tamma Tamma” and “Yaad Aa Raha Hai” to his credit, informs that his inspiration is Mother Teresa who had blessed him and pointed out that while he had made a name for himself, he hadn’t done anything for slum kids. “That’s when I made my film Slum Stars and got some kids from the slums to sing for it. If this book does well, I’ll build a school for them,” he promises.
Does he plan to set some of the poems and songs in the book to music and release them? “I’ve already released one on YouTube and will start composing the rest once I return to India,” he says.
