Sixteen years after they had a fallout, Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi have buried the hatchet, and are apparently joining forces for a film. midday has learnt that the two are planning to collaborate on a period drama, titled Fateh Singh.

It may be recalled that the filmmaker, in 2013, had expressed his wish to give shape to the action drama. While the project did not kick off for a host of reasons, we hear Deol has finally given his nod to the script. A source reveals, “Over the past two years, Sunny has been busy with his son’s [Karan Deol] debut film, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. Now that the project is nearing completion, Sunny has turned his attention to acting assignments. After a long discussion with Santoshi, the two have agreed to take Fateh Singh on floors. The actor will be seen playing a Sikh warrior. Santoshi wants to bring Sunny back in his action avatar and he feels this is the right subject.”

A force to reckon with in the ’90s, the actor- director duo had given three blockbusters — Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993) and Ghatak (1996). A fallout ensued when both decided to make films on Bhagat Singh — Santoshi directed Ajay Devgn in The Legend Of Bhagat Singh (2002) while Deol went on to produce 23 March 1931: Shaheed (2002). Santoshi remained unavailable for comment.
