Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Athiya Shetty are coming together for a quirky wedding-comedy titled, Motichoor Chaknachoor. The film rolls in Lucknow on September 23 and will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule until December-end. The makers were delighted when Nawaz not only green-lit the script in 15 minutes but also requested them to push forward the schedule so that he could wrap up the film this year itself.

“The film will mark the directorial debut of Debamitra Hassan, who has worked extensively in the television industry,” producer Rajesh Bhatia told Mirror, adding that the writer-director had been working on the screenplay and dialogue for the last three years. “My team and I were very impressed with this humorous story of an unlikely couple. There is a lot of situational comedy that plays out between the bride and the groom’s families and Nawaz playing the hero makes it all the more exciting,” Rajesh adds.

Athiya, who last featured in Anees Bazmee’s comedy-caper Mubarakan, will be seen as a typical North Indian, small-town girl. The 25-year-old-actress will undergo extensive workshops to get the dialect and accent right. Since the film is set in Lucknow both the actors will be working with a language coach.

The makers are so impressed by Debamitra that they have signed her on for a three-film deal, the first of which will be Motichoor Chaknachoor. “As a production house, we are looking at producing five films until 2019,” he informs.
