The actor’s sci-fi romance drama will clash with the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s next this Christmas

After the US schedule of his upcoming sci-fi romance drama Zero, which was followed by a brief family vacation, Shah Rukh Khan dived straight into the Mumbai schedule of the Aanand L Rai directorial. The fi lm’s team is racing towards wrap-up to keep its December 21 date with the box-office. It will be up against Academy Award-winning Hollywood fi mmaker James Cameron and Jon Landau’s upcoming production, Alita: Battle Angel, which has snagged the same date for its worldwide release.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, the cyberpunk action film features Canadian-American actress Rosa Salazar as a young cyborg Alita who goes on a journey of self-discovery. Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios, who is distributing the film in India, says, “We are releasing Alita: Battle Angel during the Christmas holidays this year. It is the perfect holiday film conceived by James Cameron almost a decade ago and like Avatar, is set in an entirely new and unique world. With some high-end special effects and stunning action sequences, we are sure the film will create ripples at the box-office around the world.” Anupam Kher recently revealed that his biographical political-drama The Accidental Prime Minister, also opens on December 21.
