DHADAK had a good opening day of around 8.50 crore nett which is the highest opening day for a film featuring newcomers. The film scored well outside the metros especially in Nizam and CP Berar and in these places the Marathi film SAIRAT from which this film has been remade was widely watched.

The numbers are also good in  UP, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat but places like Delhi city, East Punjab and Mysore are on the lower side. There is a a lot of scope of improvement in the collections in the metros so it could jump on Saturday but it could also be that the content is more suited to the Hindi belts.

Despite the good start it will need to show a reasonable jump as only then can the film have a chance to sustain from Monday. The opening pretty much ensures the film is safe on a start like this but there has to appreciation for the newcomers to gain from the film.

The opening day of the film is the eighth best this year beating films like RAAZI and PARMANU and is mainly behind the cast films. In terms of newcomers it is the best opening day ever beating the figures of STUDENT OF THE YEAR which grossed 7.52 crore nett in 2012.

The top opening days with films featuring newcomers are as follows.
1. Dhadak (2018) - 8.50 crore apprx
2. Student Of The Year (2012) - 7.52 crore
3. Hero (2015) - 6.69 crore
4. Heropanti (2014) - 6.51 crore
5. Ishaqzaade (2012) - 4.48 crore

There has been a big gap between DHADAK and the others with HERO in 2015 being the most recent release. So if you take into account GST and higher ticket rates the real value is probably a little lower than films like STUDENT OF THE YEAR and HEROPANTI.

The Hollywood film SKYSCRAPER had low collections as it collected around 1.25 crore nett apprx. If the figures from South come in a little better it could be 10 lakhs higher but that hardly changes the scenario. The film had action but the audience was not interested.
