JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM had a fair opening with first day collections around the 5.75-6 crore nett mark. The opening is not huge compared with recent Hollywood releases with AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR breaking all records and even DEADPOOL 2 opening close to the 10 crore nett mark.

The original JURASSIC PARK released in 1994 was the first huge blockbuster in India from Hollywood as it became the fifth or sixth highest grossing film that year if we include Hindi films. JURASSIC WORLD released in 2015 did well as it grossed close to 90 crore nett and that film started at around 4.25 crore nett with a Thursday release like JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM.

It will be very difficult for JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM to repeat the feat of JURASSIC WORLD but the four day weekend should be decent as families should come on Saturday and Sunday.

KAALA fared poorly in Hindi with collections looking to reach 1 crore nett depending on where the final business in Mumbai comes in and it is that circuit which has done the bulk of the business for the film. The rest of the Hindi markets are very dull with hardly any collections.

The last Rajinikanth film KABALI had opened well in Hindi with collections of 3.50 crore nett but that film seemed to have more mass appeal while the promos of this film give it a more darker feel. The film will not do well in its Hindi format.

KAALA opened best in its home market of Tamil Nadu but even there the film struggled eventually as its not what the huge following of Rajinikanth will expect from his films.
