Two months ago, Vishal Bhardwaj announced that he’s taking over the reins of the Deepika Padukone-Irrfan Khan-starrer from casting director Honey Trehan, who was all set to make his directorial debut with this film. Earlier, he was only supposed to produce it. As luck would have it, once Vishal decided to helm the gangster drama, he had to push it ahead due to DP’s back pain and Irrfan’s ill health.

The news of Irrfan’s illness has deeply affected the filmmaker. A source says, “Vishal and Irrfan are close friends. It came as a rude shock to him and to Prernaa Arora who’s also producing the film. So, they decided to postpone it.”

Instead, KriArj Entertainment and VB Pictures are now teaming up for another project. The source adds, “Churiya was supposed to be their second collaboration, but now, it will be shot first.” Prernaa confirms, “Yes, we are starting another venture with Vishal sir around April. I don’t want to disclose further details. We will announce the film and cast soon.”
