This year, cinegoers will get a chance to see their favourite actresses together in several two-heroine projects. While Katrina Kaif has Thugs Of Hindostan with Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Zero with Anushka Sharma. Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah have teamed up for Race 3. Sonakshi Sinha shares screen space with Diana Penty in Happy Bhaag Jayegi Phir Se, and Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam have been roped in for Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Now, we hear, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s next will also feature two actresses.
BHUMI AND VIDYA
The Bareilly Ki Barfi director, who has often mentioned in her interviews that she wants to work with Vidya Balan, has finally offered the Tumhari Sulu star her forthcoming movie. Says our source, “Ashwiny and Vidya met a few times and have discussed the movie. The latter has liked the concept.” Apparently, it will also feature Bhumi Pednekar. “The director approached Bhumi for the role and the talks are in advanced stages,” adds our source. However, nothing has been finalised yet. “The actresses have given their nod, but are yet to sign on the dotted line,” reveals our khabri.
TWO STRONG CHARACTERS
The filmmaker’s earlier movies, Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi, had strong female characters. This film, too, will be no different. “Vidya and Bhumi know how Ashwiny presents her women on screen, so they didn’t need much time to be convinced. Both of them will have equal footing in this slice-of-life film. It will be an interesting mix of comedy, emotions and drama.”
HERO KAHAN HAI?
Now, the hunt is on for the hero. “The male lead has an important role, too. Ashwiny has already thought of a few actors, but she hasn’t discussed the film with any one of them yet,” our source tells us.
