With the latest season of Rising Star going on air, Diljit Dosanjh, who features as one of the judges, has been busy with the shoot of the live reality show. So much so that the singer-actor found it difficult to accommodate the Punjab schedule of his upcoming Punjabi film, Sajjan Singh Rangroot. But the makers found a solution to their quandary — if Dosanjh can’t go to the set, the set comes to him.
Instead of making Dosanjh log air miles flying to Punjab for Pankaj Batra’s directorial venture, the makers felt it would be convenient to shoot the World War I drama in a Mumbai studio instead. We hear, the entire unit flew down to the city and erected a special set, replicating Patiala of the early 20th century, in Vasai. While Dosanjh films his reality show in a Goregaon studio twice a week, he will be shooting the action sequences of the film on remaining days.
Says producer Bobby Bajaj, “This is the last schedule of our film. We have already announced the release date of March 23, so we wanted to wrap up the shoot by the last week of January. As Diljit’s TV show has also started, it made more sense to shoot in Mumbai.”
The period drama sees Dosanjh play a soldier of the British Indian Army. He has also lent his voice to the songs.
