MUMBAI MIRROR (January 24, 2018)

Mirror had earlier reported (January 22) that Alia Bhatt had taken a break from Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy to attend bestie Kripa Mehta’s wedding in the Capital. The actress was happy to let the spotlight shift to her friend, but ensured she had a blast too. At the sangeet on Sunday, she turned up looking peachy in a lehenga and with her friends performed on some Bollywood hits, including “Nachde Ne Saare” from Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif’s love story Baar Baar Dekho. They also danced to “Hawa Hawa” from Mubarakan but it was the Sid chartbuster that made tongues wag given that the exes were reported to have split recently. The actress got emotional as the bride swayed to the romantic “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage”.

The next morning, the gang attended a polo match before assembling for the shaadi in the evening. In a scene straight out of a Sooraj Barjatya movie, Alia and her girl gang welcomed the baarat with the traditional aarti, and burst into tears as her friend readied to take the saat pheras.

Alia and friend Aakansha Ranjan returned to Mumbai on Tuesday morning.
