Zoya's film
Given that she has successful films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) and Dil Dhadakne Do (2015) on her resume, Zoya Akhtar's next is certainly awaited by cinephiles. And father Javed Akhtar, who had a chance to go through the script of the film, promises his daughter will deliver with Gully Boy. "Gully Boy is going to be an exceptional film. I can say, this is going to be Zoya's best film till date. I am intrigued by it," Akhtar told mid-day on the sidelines of TED Talks India.

Gully Boy features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Prior to the film's announcement in January, she took almost a year to write the script and zero in on the storyline. Akhtar is behind the lyrics of the film's songs, a fairly crucial part considering the story surrounds street musicians and rappers.

The lyricist says he is selective about giving his nod to the offers that come to him. "As a screenwriter, if someone has a story I like, I will write the screenplay and dialogues. If the person doesn't have a story, I will offer a story too." However, he is certain to refrain from certain kinds of cinema. "If the film has any vulgarity, obscenity or crude situation, where I am expected to write a song that may imply something else, I won't take it up."
