Team Fakir Of Venice can finally heave a sigh of relief. The makers, who were worried about obtaining the Censor Board’s certification — in the wake of controversies surrounding films like Udta Punjab, Lipstick Under My Burkha and Padmavati — are happy that their project has secured a U/A rating.
Meanwhile, Oscar-winning music maestro AR Rahman recently completed composing the background score for the Farhan Akhtar-Annu Kapoor-starrer. The producers are also planning to release two soulful tracks from the movie soon.
The film revolves around two Indian men, one of whom is a fake baba travelling to Venice to con the European art world. The makers were apprehensive that the storyline, which shows a Muslim character Sattar (played by Annu Kapoor) in the disguise of a Hindu baba, may trigger controversies.
Helmed by adman Anand Surapur and produced by October Films, Fakir Of Venice is based on the real-life incidents of noted director, Homi Adajania. WelcomeCure is backing the project and is its brand partners. The film, released by Yusuf Shaikh, will open in cinemas on January 5.
