Karan Johar has put together a brilliant ensemble for his ambitious venture Shiddat. Set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan Partition, the period film stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sridevi and Sanjay Dutt. While there’s a love triangle between Aditya and Varun and Alia, where does that leave Sona? Here’s the goss!

SHORTER ROLE
Sonakshi has a smaller part to play in this period drama. Says a source, “Sonakshi always knew her role is shorter than Alia’s. Without giving away the story, we can reveal that her role is an important one. She is paired opposite Aditya, who later falls for Alia”

NO ISSUES
Right from the narration stage, Sona was informed about the length of her role. “She is extremely fond of Karan (Johar) and she’s also done Ittefaq with his banner. Despite her role being short, it’s not a cameo or an extended special appearance. Instead, it impacts Aditya’s character and is extremely important. She had no issues with the screen time,” adds our source.

THE HINDU-MUSLIM ANGLE
Since the film is set in the Partition era, the makers are going to play up that angle and how the country was shaken post the announcement of the Indo-Pak partition. That will play a major part in the whole Sonakshi-Aditya equation.
