Farah Khan’s new show, Lip Sing Battle, an Indian adaptation of the US show Lip Sync Battle, had Ayushmann Khurrana and Raveena Tandon as the celebrity competitors on Tuesday. Ayushmann was performing on the song “Meri Pant Bhi Sexy, Meri Shirt Bhi Sexy” from Govinda’s comic riot, Dulaara. Dressed up as a panipuriwala, he started grooving on stage, when a freak accident resulted in his performance getting delayed.

A source from the sets reveals that there was a step which required the actor to splash some water on himself. “Ayushmann had no idea that the water was the spicy concoction for panipuri. Thinking it was coloured water, he splashed it and some of it spilled into his eyes and he screamed in agony. The crew rushed to his aid and splashed water on his eyes but they only turned redder and got more swollen. A doctor was then summoned and the shoot was stalled for an hour,” adds the source.

While all of this was happening, Govinda was waiting backstage to make a surprise entry. Since he was a kid, Ayushmann has been a huge fan of the Hero No.1 and insisted on performing on his song only, after which Farah decided to get Govinda as the guest for the day. She also invited his wife Sunita and daughter Tina to be a part of the shoot. “Given how serious the injury was, everyone expected an early packup. But Ayushmann refused to keep his idol waiting and after an hour sprang up, announcing, “Let’s do this!” And the show went on.
