There were murmurs that Raveena Tandon and Govinda weren’t on the best of terms after she dropped out from a promotional event that the latter was hosting for his last release, Aa Gaya Hero. But the duo showed that their warm equation hasn’t changed as they recently shot together for Farah Khan’s reality show, Lip Sing Battle.

It was on Khan’s request that Govinda made a special appearance on the show. The director-turned-host felt that the actor would be the perfect surprise element for Tandon, considering the two have starred together in over nine films and remain one of the most popular jodis of the '90s.

Reveals a source from the set, “Raveena dressed up as Anil Kapoor for her act and danced to One Two Ka Four from Ram Lakhan [1989]. Govinda made his entry right after her act, which left Raveena speechless.”

Anyone who has grown up during the ’90s will tell you that a Govinda-Tandon appearance is incomplete without them grooving to their chartbuster, Chalo Ishq Ladaye (from Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, 1998). “They did an impromptu performance and set the stage on fire during the few minutes that they were together.”

Adapted from the American show that sees celebrities battling each other with lip-sync performances, this episode of the show saw Tandon pitted against Ayushmann Khurrana. “Ayushmann was thrilled to share the stage with the two icons.”

About her experience of shooting with Govinda, Tandon says, “I’m glad Farah invited me on the show. The best bit was meeting Govinda after such a long time.”
