Sanjay Dutt, who began shooting for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s third instalment of the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster franchise at Bikaner’s Laxmi Niwas Palace last week, is now gearing up for Gandhi Jayanti.

Mirror has learnt that to mark the occasion on October 2, the 58-year-old actor will be revisiting his Rajkumar Hirani-directed Lage Raho Munna Bhai, with his new film’s cast and crew.

In the 2006 comedy-drama, Sanjay’s eponymous lead starts to see the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi and, through his interactions with him, the character begins to practice what he refers to as Gandhigiri (a neologism for Gandhism) to help ordinary people solve their problems.

“Certain members from the unit came up with the idea, which Sanjay loved and immediately agreed to. The film is close to Sanjay’s heart and there couldn’t be a better day than Gandhi Jayanti to revisit it. The entire team is excited but yet to decide if the screening will be held on the set or at the hotel,” informs a source close to the development, adding that Sanjay’s co-star Jimmy Sheirgill, who was also a part of the two Munna Bhai films, will be present at the screening as well.

Meanwhile, since it’s a long weekend, Sanjay’s kids, Shahraan and Iqra have also joined him on his film’s Bikaner set. “The kids are really excited to be there and are looking forward to spend time with their father. Manyata hasn’t been able to make it to Rajasthan as she is currently busy with work commitments” adds the source.
