Judwaa 2 as expected is like a reboot of the original. It is one of the few rare comic capers in today’s times and that’s its big advantage – audiences were waiting for such a massy, entertaining laugh riot and Judwaa 2 provides fun and laughter in abundance. Varun Dhawan is terrific and does so well. He looks totally convincing in this role and yes, he doesn’t reach to the level of Salman Khan. Yet, he’s quite good and would give no reason to complain. For a long time, there was no new superstar in the industry and it’s so good to know that now Varun is around. With his performances, screen presence and choice of films, he’ll ensure that the much needed star system will not fade away for a long time to come! Jacqueline Fernandez is stunning and such roles suit her very well. Taapsee Pannu also does well but somewhere she doesn’t suit the part well. Rajpal Yadav is hilarious while Zakir Hussain is fine as the villain – watch out for the evil background score used in his scenes! On the flipside, the misunderstandings that occur because of Raja and Prem’s identical faces become a bit too much in the second half. Also, some of the scenes are objectionable and sexist. In the 90s, it was kinda acceptable but in today’s times, it comes across as crass. The makers are publicizing Judwaa 2 as a family entertainer but that’s clearly not the case. Thankfully, the film has a lot more and can make for a nice timepass watch, especially for those who love such comic capers!
