Mirror (September 16) had
earlier reported that Krushna Abhishek's comedy show, The Drama Company,
which had been moved from its 8 pm slot to the 9 pm one of The Kapil
Sharma Show from September 1, was being replaced prematurely to make way
for Sunil Grover's new show. Krushna had confirmed the news, saying,
“We were planning a new season and had decided to introduce some new
elements. Now, I think they are introducing Sunil's show in that slot
which we were not aware of. It's the channel's decision and Sunil is
very
popular. I'm comfortable with him and open to working with him in
future.“
But just when Krushna was planning a break of two-three months from work and headed to Greece with wife Kashmera and their twin sons, he got the news that his show had got an extension for another season. “Yes, it's true. We learnt about the extension on Thursday when our creative head, Preeti Simoes, met the channel. The TRPs for our Sanjay Dutt episode were good which means that if we get good stars things will work for us. We are making some changes on the set and the format. We are also getting new actors on board. Sony is confident the show will get better ratings,“ Krushna exulted.
He pointed out that The Drama Company has been modeled on international Broadway dramas which didn't go down well with the desi audience who prefer out-and-out comedy. “We tried changing the format but we were accused of copying Kapil Sharma's KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati) game. It was Preeti's idea and she used to work with Kapil earlier so we weren't aping anyone and the game worked for us. The next episode will be shot on September 26 in the new format,“ he signed off happily note.
Meanwhile, Sunil was seen over the weekend in the finale of Remo D'Souza's talent hunt show, Dance Plus, on Star Plus. This has sparked off speculations that he could be moving with his new show to the rival channel. His earlier show, Mad In India, aired on Star.
