MUMBAI MIRROR (September 19, 2017)

Sanjay Dutt is a master of his craft who has been a part of close to 200 films. After a hiatus of a few years, the actor returns on the big screen with the revenge drama Bhoomi, an emotional story of a father and daughter.

A large part of the film was shot in Agra save for a courtroom sequence which was filmed in Mumbai. It was a six-page-long emotional scene with powerful dialogues.

The day it was to be canned, Sanjay spent most of his time making everyone laugh, which made the producers Bhushan Kumar and Sandeep Singh wonder how he would mentally prepare himself to deliver the emotional scene. Nerves were particularly frayed on the set towards the evening.

At 7.30 pm, as the cameras came on in a jam-packed courtroom, Sanjay just stood in front of it and enacted the full six-page-scene in just one take. The cast and crew was moved to tears as it waited for director Omung Kumar to call ‘cut’, when all of them just starting clapping spontaneously.

Bhoomi, produced by T-Series and Legend Studios, releases worldwide on September 22.
