Esha Deol is all set to take
the pheras again, only this time it will be three rounds instead of
seven. The pregnant actress and her businessman-husband, Bharat
Takhtani, will tie the knot again on August 24 according to the Sindhi
rituals of the 'Godh Bharai' ceremony or baby shower. According to a
source, Neeta Lulla, who has had a long association with both Esha and
her actress mother Hema Malini, having designed the former's wedding
dress earlier, will design the outfit for the bride and the groom as,
being a Sindhi herself, she understands the rituals involved.
A radiant Esha revealed that when she had taken the vows with Bharat, on June 29, 2012, her mom had flown in a priest from Tirupati and since he spoke only Tamil, none of her family or friends had understood anything. “This time it's a Sindhi priest who speaks Hindi too, so my in-laws will at least understand what is being said,“ she chuckled. Prod her on what she recalls of the rituals from five years ago, she says that being half South Indian, she had always wanted a South Indian wedding because of it's kanyadaan ritual. “As a bride, I sat on my dad's (Dharmendra) lap and after the kanyadaan, I moved to Bharat's lap. So, the two most important men in my life were part of the ritual. It was rather emotional,“ she reminisces misty-eyed.
This time the priest will be chanting prayers for the well-being of her child too, following which family members will apply oil on Esha's forehead and shower her with blessings and gifts. There will also be a 'mehendi' ceremony with the women singing and dancing to folk songs and engaging in playful banter. It's an extremely private affair hosted by the Takhtanis, with only a few of Esha's friends in attendance. A special 'chappan bhog' for Lord Krishna has been organised and guests will be served a 'satvik' lunch after the ritual.
Ask Esha how much she's changed since marriage and if she'd have liked another groom the second time around and she laughs, “Over the last five years, Bharat and I have become as thick as thieves. Since I'm pregnant, I'm prone to mood swings now but he's tolerated them and is extremely protective. He's also my best critic, encouraging me in everything I do. At the risk of sounding filmi, I'll say I wouldn't want to change anything, life's beautiful!“
