Despite having essayed powerpacked performances in several comic capers, only infrequently has Tabu been the one to tickle funny bones. But Rohit Shetty promises that the actor’s character in his next, Golmaal Again, will have the audience in splits. He tells mid-day, “Tabu is a surprise casting. When you watch the film, you will realise that she was the best actor that could have been cast for this role. She is the backbone and the anchor of our story. We wanted someone with her reputation and aura.”

Given that the filmmaker has always been vocal about his admiration for his team, it comes as no surprise that he loves to work with the same actors over and over again. “I love working with good human beings,” he reasons, adding, “The actors who’ve appeared in my previous films, including Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Mukesh Tiwari and Ashwini Kalsekar, among others, will feature in this fourth instalment of Golmaal, since they’ve been working with me for several years.”

Yet, the director chose to replace his leading lady, Kareena Kapoor Khan with Parineeti Chopra. Shetty tells us at the screening of his TV show, Khatron Ke Khiladi, “There’s an element of suspense in the film, which required me to cast Parineeti instead of Kareena.”
