JAGGA JASOOS had a major drop of around 55% on Monday which seals the fate of the film unless there is a some sort of miraculous recovery. The drop was universal and across the board. The smaller circuits were always going to drop and the metros would always find it tough without children and family audience on the weekdays. Its a film for the Saturday audience and will jump big again on Saturday but with the occupancy likely to go down further over the weekdays it won't have the screens in week two for the jump to matter. The business of JAGGA JASOOS for the first four days is as follows.
Friday - 8,25,00,000
Saturday - 11,00,00,000
Sunday - 12,50,00,000
Monday - 3,75,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 35,50,00,000
The first week will go to around 43 crore nett, maybe 44 crore nett if it holds up better tomorrow but with the flow of releases in the coming weeks its hardly going to add much after week one. HALF GIRLFRIEND grossed 52.29 crore nett and the film could surpass that but the next one on the list is HINDI MEDIUM at 63,03 crore nett and that seems a very tall order for JAGGA JASOOS. It will mean less business than NEERJA, DEAR ZINDAGI and KAPOOR & SONS which were the top three grossers but they mainly collected in the five metros of Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore.
The Sunday business was critical and it had to be up there towards 14 crore nett rather than 12.50 crore nett. It may just be a 1-1.50 crore nett but makes a huge difference to the trend and also signals the film fetching a wider audience. Its a tough ask for a film of this huge cost to survive on five cities but that is what the film will have to do as the core Hindi film audience has not come on Sunday which was its big chance for some sort of success.
