Actor extraordinaire Nawazuddin Siddiqui knows how to command attention off screen too. He grabbed eyeballs recently on the streets of New York as he ventured out in a lungi, vest, a transistor and a tin can, taking off from his sharp shooter character, Babu, in the upcoming film, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.

“It was the makers’ idea and Nawaz loved it. He even attended a meeta-nd-greet arranged for the fans in character,” a source close to the 44-year-old actor.

Nawaz who left for the Big Apple on Tuesday and will be back to the Bay by this weekend, is determined to take Babu to every corner of the globe. Next up, he’ll shoot for a song for the film which also features Bidita Bag who replaced Chitrangada Singh.
