Rishi Kapoor
MID-DAY (June 30, 2017)

Rishi Kapoor, along with a starry line-up, including Sridevi, and Venkaiah Naidu, union minister of information and broadcasting, will inaugurate the eighth edition of the Jagran Film Festival (JFF) that kicks off at the Siri Fort auditorium, New Delhi, tomorrow.

A retrospective of the veteran actor's films will be screened at the 16 cities the festival travels. The line-up includes Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), Prem Rog (1982), down to his more recent films like Agneepath (2012) and Kapoor & Sons (2016). Kapoor, who is shooting in Mauritius, will be flying in directly for the festival.

The invites-only opening film of the retrospective will be followed by the actor's master-class, hosted by mid-day entertainment editor and film critic Mayank Shekhar. This is the first time a retrospective of Kapoor's works is being held in India. Talking about Kapoor's participation, Basant Rathore, senior vice president, Jagran Prakashan, said, "It's a matter of pride that Rishi Kapoor has kindly consented to be part of the festival. We look forward to it".

This year, JFF takes off in Delhi on July 1 with screenings of over 150 Indian and foreign films. It moves on to Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Ranchi, Dehradun, Bhopal, Indore, Meerut, and other cities. It culminates in Mumbai from September 15 to 22.
