There were reports that Abhishek Bachchan was to play a cop in Ram Gopal Varma’s film, Arrest, based on encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma. Given that RGV has previously made movies glorifying the underworld — Company, Satya, Ab Tak Chhappan, this news caused a lot of interest because, for a change, the director would be making a film from the opposite viewpoint. The hero was to be a cop. Not the gangster.
Horror first!
However, RGV isn’t making that film just yet. A horror film with Mithun Chakraborty is on the cards first. He confirms, “The horror film is in the process of being finalised. The one with Abhishek will take some time. The scripting is going on. It’s not based on encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma, but is a completely fictional story.”
Not a policeman
Abhishek, who has played a cop in the Dhoom series and in Shootout at Lokhandwala (special appearance) will have to wait for some more time to don a khaki uniform. RGV further adds, “It’s not exactly a cop story but about special investigation teams, courts and all that.”
