Kajol, who was nominated
last year to be a part-time member of the Prasar Bharati board, which
oversees the functioning of All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan, for
three years, may lose her post after repeatedly missing meetings this
year. According to the provisions of the Prasar Bharati Act, members who
are absent without taking permission for three consecutive board
meetings are understood to have “vacated the office“.
Reportedly, the Information and Broadcasting ministry (I&B) has sent a letter to Prasar Bharati and is looking into the matter. Kajol's repeated absence had also figured in a recent meeting of the board.
The actress's spokesperson said Kajol's been unable to attend the last three-four meetings “due to prior professional commitments and a family emergency on medical grounds through most of this year“.
